Destino del Reino is a home where children are nurtured and loved and prepared for adulthood. They are not only provided with food, clothing and shelter, but also with education and job training, enabling them to provide for their own families in the future. Through training in the Word of God, they discover the personal hope they have in Jesus Christ and are prepared to return to their villages as leaders with a destiny of hope.

Destino del Reino, located 15 miles north of Siguatepeque, Honduras, provides the children with basic needs, bilingual education and spiritual knowledge, in an atmosphere of Christ-like love and compassion. The facility when completed will consist of six family-style houses, a guest house for parental visitation, a church, dental clinic, elementary and junior and high schools and vocational training centers.

The theme verse for Destino points to our prayer for these kids:

“Fear not little flock, for it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom”. -Luke 12:32

History & Dedication

On April 20, 2006, we dedicated our beautiful new school building.   The building itself was a great miracle in that it was begun and finished within 8 months.  One contractor told us that even in the US with all the best equipment and experienced workers, this could not have been accomplished.   We started school in March and then had the dedication of the building in April.  The school was dedicated in honor of the life of Cassie Bernall, one of the teenagers who was killed in Columbine High School in 1999.  In the school office, a photo of Cassie is displayed with the following inscription:

In Honor of the Life of Cassie Bernall

On April 20, 1999, two students entered Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, armed with guns and pipe bombs, and killed many students.  The next day, the news broadcasts told the story of one young lady who was in the library of the school. With the point of the pistol held to her head, one of the gunmen asked her if she believed in God. She answered, “Yes,”  He asked, “Why?” and then pulled the trigger, sending her into the arms of her Savior.  That young lady was Cassie Bernall. The question that many have asked is “Where did she find the courage to answer, Yes, knowing that it would cost her life?”  The answer is that God had given her the courage and strength to sustain her faith.  The day before she died, Cassie had written a note to a friend in her class.  She said, “Honestly, I want to live completely for God. It is hard and scary, but worth it all.”  Several days before that, another note was written by Cassie that read, “I will die for my God.  I will give my life for my faith.  It is the least I can do for Christ who died for me.”  Today, April 20, 2006, seven years after the death of Cassie Bernall, we are dedicating the school and kindergarten of Destino del Reino in honor of the life of Cassie, with the desire that the students of Destino del Reino, both now and in the future, will be courageous in their faith and will live and die for the glory and honor of Jesus Christ.
