On Saturday, August 12, we started our AWANA Club at Destino del Reino. In Spanish it is “OANSA”. AWANA stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” from II Timothy 3:17. The Club is much like Sunday School but concentrates more on Bible memorization and competitions. The children will have songs and Bible lesson but also will have their own manuals to work on in Bible memorization. There are competitive team games each week and they earn AWANA bucks to spend at the AWANA store. They earn their AWANA dollars (or lempiras here) by passing sections in their manuals which is much memorization of Bible verses and definitions of biblical terms. It is a powerful club and we are so thankful to have been able to begin this program at Destino del Reino. We had about 150 children the first day and expect the club to grow rapidly. We need prayer for more leaders. We need one leader for every 7 children. Thank you for praying for this new ministry and great outreach opportunity for Destino. We know that God will build great leadership from this group of children as they are hiding God’s word in their hearts and preparing for His kingdom work in their lives.
